Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) aims to become Bangladesh's first smart university, according to Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam. He expressed his optimism during a speech as the chief guest at the country's inaugural Industry Academia Collaboration Meet held at RUET on Thursday, November 30.
In his address, Professor Alam emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry experts to equip students with the skills needed to contribute to building a smart Bangladesh. He pledged to foster more extensive Industry Academia Collaboration Meets at RUET in the future.
During the event, Professor Mizanul H. Chowdhury of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT-USA) virtually joined and underscored the significance of industry-academia cooperation in developing skilled human resources for the fourth industrial revolution.
The meeting, jointly organized by the Research and Extension Department and IQAC, saw the participation of senior officials from 76 institutions across different sectors in the country. Deans, heads of departments, registrars, directors, and senior officials from various faculties of RUET also attended.
Fifteen industries involved in the collaboration meet signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to implement innovative initiatives with RUET's academia and students. The establishment of Industrial Advisory Panels in each department of RUET was also discussed.
